Erich Herbst

After completing his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Cook County Hospital in 1987, Erich Herbst and his wife, Jean, moved to Baraboo to join Albert Petrulis in his practice. Erich was appointed to the staffs of 5 area hospitals and enjoyed serving the dental and medical community until his retirement in 2020.  Albert’s love for Mirror Lake was contagious and the Herbsts bought their cottage on Mirror Lake in 1999. It has been a fabulous retreat for Erich and Jean and their two sons, Christopher and Michael. Their sons, who both live out of state, love to visit Mirror Lake and relive wonderful childhood memories. Some may recall when they paddled the lake in their 16’ green kayak “The Mirror Lake Monster”. Erich and Jean made their Mirror Lake cottage their year round home in 2019.  Erich and Jean have met many great people over the years on Mirror Lake and feel blessed to be able to live at such an idyllic location. Erich is interested in maintaining/improving water quality on Mirror Lake and creating better land management practices of adjacent areas.
